Blood Water: BC’s Dirty Salmon Farming Secret
Investigative dives at farmed salmon processing plants near Campbell River and Tofino B.C. Canada have revealed that raw, infected effluent is being released into critical wild salmon migration corridors.
This untreated blood water is infected with Piscine Reovirus, a highly infectious virus which causes HSMI (Heart and Skeletal Muscle Inflammation), a deadly disease for wild salmon.
A third of BC’s salmon migrate past these two processing plants.
If we want wild salmon to survive on our coast, this dirty industry must transition to land.
