Event: Stop Oil Trains Family Picnic Philadelphia - #Stopoiltrains week of action

Video by Brian Rudnick

Across the country, dirty energy projects which pollute our air, water, & soil are being defeated. http://ecowatch.com/2016/05/06/canceled-pipeline-projects/ Yet here in Philadelphia, more dirty energy projects are being proposed every day, from the continued health & safety violations of Philadelphia Energy Solutions to oil train and fracked gas infrastructure proposed for the Southport section of the Navy Yard to PGW's intention to expand it's LNG facility in Port Richmond, to SEPTA's plans to build a fracked gas plant in Nicetown in addition to approving construction of the Mariner East pipeline along SEPTA rail lines. But Philadelphia is a strong & beautiful city! We can stop the expansion of dirty energy projects, and support healthy families and communities. Join EDGE & Moms Clean Air Force for a Family Picnic & Paddle. Bring the whole family from baby to grandma at 2pm for activities led by Moms Clean Air Force and art making station sponsored by EDGE. Bring your kayak! Kayak owners are encouraged to connect & share the experience of paddling the Schuylkill with others. We already have a handful of kayak owners that will be ready to share their boats, but the more the merrier! Dinner will be served 4-5pm (snacks will be available before 4pm). Food is sponsored by Stand.earth for their Stop Oil Trains Week of Actions. Bring any signs or messaging that you have about the dangers of oil trains! We may get to view them up close & personal since they run along the Schuykill Banks Trail, separated from the park by only a few feet. We will set up in Schuylkill Banks Park just south of the Walnut St Dock (left if you''re facing the river). Ramp access for wheelchairs, strollers, etc is about 1block north of the Walnut St Bridge. Registration is not necessary, but it helps us bring enough food & activity guides! http://tinyurl.com/Picnic-Paddle
