Image: Governor Tom Wolf and Wife Frances at Governor's Mansion after his inauguration with Maria Kretschmann as Marie Antoinette in response to governor saying that the decision of New York to ban fracking was unfortunate - “I want to have my cake and eat it, too. I don’t want to do what New York did,” he said.
Many of you have been following the saga concerning EDGE member Maria and her battle with a fracking compressor station near their family-owned organic farm just north of Pittsburgh.
The Beaver County judge came back with his verdict and DENIED Maria's family, the Kretschmanns, appeal against the station. PennEnergy/Cardinal Midstream used their fat wallets to change pristine farmland into an industrial facility, to emit tons of noxious gasses per year. Despite the community's concerns, clearly profit takes precedent over public health.

The Kretschmann's are appealing this decision to the Commonwealth Court.
"We need to be food independent, and this township needs to take seriously its ability to produce food to feed your residents..." ~Brian Snyder of PASA
"By any responsible account," Chief Justice Castille wrote in the case against Act 13 argued by the Kretschmann's attorney John Smith, "the exploitation of the Marcellus Shale Formation will produce a detrimental effect on the environment, on the people, their children, and the future generations, and potentially on the public purse, perhaps rivaling the environmental effects of coal extraction."
We in Philadelphia should all consider the battle for the new Gas Energy Hub and help to fight against it - All that dangerous material will be coming right into Philly to pollute and cause a possible disaster in our densely populated city. NOW is the time to speak up Philly!!!!
